“LEAVING SOMETHING PERMANENT IS THE GREATEST PRIVILEGE IN LIFE”
Art is a journey that takes you through the darkness and into the light. Adding the element of fire into his metalwork gives the artist, Andrew Tyland, a great degree of artistic satisfaction. Fire gives his work life.
Andrew Tyland gained his metalworking skills while apprenticing with Kazakh blacksmiths during his travels to Kazakhstan between 2006 and 2008. He then traveled to Verona, Italy, where he worked with an artisan blacksmith by the name of Giuseppe Trampierro. Andrew travelled to Italy frequently and spent countless hours apprenticing with Trampierro in a centuries-old workshop learning the secrets of his art.
Giuseppe Trampierro died in 2016. His legacy can be seen in the works of his apprentices who walk their own paths of shaping metal.
